In short
Four construction projects are active or restarting this spring. Pipeline work along Bluff Road closes parts of the six-way roundabout, the subdivision roads into Edgewater and Village at the Bluff, and the trail from Jensen Park north, through the beginning of May 2026. The 500 West widening restarts this month between 2700 South and 2150 South, and a new roundabout is coming to 3000 West near Fire Station 31. Green waste containers are in use again starting April 1.
Dates and deadlines
- March 2026 500 West widening construction restarts after the winter pause and runs until it is finished this summer.
- April 1 to November 30 Green waste season: use green containers for leaves, lawn cuttings, bush and shrub cuttings, garden waste, and produce.
- Beginning of May 2026 Bluff Road pipeline construction is expected to finish, ahead of the start of the secondary water season.
- End of 2026 Secondary meter installations are expected to be about 95 percent complete.
Everything else
Bluff Road and Jensen Park area
- Weber Basin is upgrading the canal pipe along Bluff Road to a larger size so more water can be delivered to the city reservoir at Jensen Park, and a new pipe will run through the six-way roundabout to serve the new Syracuse Reservoir.
- Closures during the work: sections of the six-way roundabout, the roads leading from Bluff Road into the Edgewater and Village at the Bluff subdivisions (not at the same time), and the trail along Bluff Road from Jensen Park north to the six-way roundabout. Public Works asks drivers to plan for detours and allow extra time.
- The neighborhood on Bluff Drive near Jensen Nature Park is under construction with new pipes and roads, continuing through the summer.
500 West
- Expect traffic interruptions at the street intersections along 500 West from 2700 South to 2150 South while the widening is underway.
3000 West roundabout
- The roundabout is meant to keep traffic moving during school drop-off and pick-up and to improve pedestrian travel with trail connections and safe crossings. There will be slight modifications to the parking lots at the church, Fire Station 31, and Fremont Park.
- Flashing lights will be installed near the Fire Station 31 driveway. When they are activated, the fire department needs traffic stopped so crews can respond to an emergency, so watch for the signals and stop.
Water meters
- Secondary meter installation continues to keep the city in compliance with Utah law. Once installed, residents will be able to monitor and manage their own water use.
